The Original Floating Object takes its cue from DIY booze cruisers, a military pontoon and an agricultural green house.
These functional, agrarian and military designs are reconfigured into a hybrid leisure object. The OFO’s funnel-shaped space dilates towards the front, directing views to the river panorama, to be enjoyed from a dining table, bed or deck chair. By angling the vertical ribs of the superstructure, views of the sky and treetops are captured. Natural light penetrates the clear polycarbonate membrane and filters through a woven ceiling fixed to the underside of the superstructure, resulting in a light-filled interior during the day and a floating lantern effect at night.
